Celebrating Open Source at the Paris Summit – My talk on HashiCorp Nomad

Another exciting event is coming up for the global open source community.  I’m proud to be a part of the upcoming Open Source Summit in Paris which is happening December 10-11, 2019.  Lots of info is available online including registration for tickets and all the logistics on getting to the event.  It’s been exciting with all the work that I’ve been doing with my Turbonomic team in open communities so this is another great way to extend support for a growing industry of open technologies.

I can’t say enough about how thankful and grateful I am to be able to be a part of this event.  Huge thanks to Jonathan Le Lous (@JollFr) for getting me involved in the event community.  There are tons of great contributors joining us at the event speaking on all things open source with real-world experience coming together for the attendees across the 2-day Paris event.

Described as “Europe’s leading event dedicated to the fields of Open Source, free software and open innovation.”, the Paris Open Source Summit will feature 8 tracks of learning and two parallel presentation stages to ensure we bring as much great content across the two days.

You’ll notice I’ve highlighted the Cloud, DevOps, Infrastructure track above.  This is my coverage area for the event including a very fun session I’ll be leading based on a lot of my recent research and exploring active use of containers and container schedulers across some of the worlds most complex and challenging deployments.

My Talk:  Why Choose Nomad as a Container Scheduler?

Having just launched my Pluralsight course, Getting Started with HashiCorp Nomad, this is part of a now growing set of content I’m building based on community interactions with folks who are keen to use HashiCorp Nomad as part of their infrastructure portfolio.  Nomad is particularly interesting because of the easy deployment and simple, scalable architecture.

While many pundits are calling for the rapid death of legacy infrastructure (aka VMs), the reality is that the world is hybrid…and always will be.  Nomad is something to look at for anyone who is dabbling with containerization while also keeping their eyes on their current infrastructure needs for more “traditional” workloads that are long-running.

Being able to evaluate Nomad effectively as an Enterprise Architect means taking a look at existing use-cases and finding the right match of requirements to capabilities.  I’m aiming to bring a lot of that into this exciting session in Paris.

Keep Up Live on Twitter:  #OSSPARIS19

The event is being posted about on Twitter by presenters, attendees, and organizers, using the hashtag #OSSPARIS19 which should be rather active leading up to, and during the event.

I’ll be sharing my presentation as soon as the event is done and hope to have a change to share some snippets on video if they become available.
