The votes are in! Thank you for supporting DiscoPosse and the blogger community
Let me start by saying Thank You!! It was a big year of new and exciting projects and tasks this last year and I have been lucky to have the opportunity to share some great stuff with my community through the site.
This year is kicking up in a big way with lots of great new projects coming together that I’ll be able to share with you all soon. This is all with the thanks to you as my readers and my peers for sharing content and inspiring me to do the same as much as possible.
In 2013 I got my first appearance on Eric Siebert’s Top vBlog 2013 list and I debuted at number 165 which was humbling to have been included among this impressive list of my peers.
Since that time I was particularly inspired to share more content and to increase my involvement in the community. This has paid me back in many ways with the friendships I’ve made and the information that I’ve learned from our IT community.
And without further ado, the 2014 placing is…
This year your voting support brought me up to 49th place in the overall Top vBlog ranking!
I am so proud to have been able to be a part of this and your support to bring me here in 2014 is what drives me to do more and more every day.
My community here in Toronto and around the world has been a continuing inspiration and I hope to represent everyone well with every post and every thing I do!
A fun bit of history
This all holds a particularly close place in my heart because in 2010 at my first VMworld, I was attending as a customer. I had just started a blog with no particular plan or purpose, but I was becoming active on Twitter as a reader. One of my plans was to go there to buy Eric Siebert and Simon Seagrave’s Maximum vSphere from the bookstore at the event.
While at the event I was charging my laptop in the Moscone South building and sifting through a rapidly scrolling Twitter feed when I saw Eric Siebert tweet that he was giving away Maximum vSphere books to the first 5 people that found him in the seating area near the bookstore.
I may have done damage to myself and my laptop as I slung it back into my bag and pretty much sprinted across the road over to the South building and luckily was able to be one of the recipients. I was nearly out of breath and although I had a hundred questions I should have had for Eric, I’m sure I appeared like a weird star struck fan who just said “Thanks so much. I’m a big fan of your site and your writing”.
This makes it extra special to me because I am very lucky to now have a chance to interact with incredible leaders in technology like Eric and so many others on the Top vBlog list, and when I attended my second VMworld in 2013 I was humbled to have had somebody track me down to say “Thank you. I really enjoy your site.”
This is a great community in all areas of virtualization, networking, programming and much more. It is possible with all of our help that we could inspire you to extend the reach of your information too. We all have great things to share, and we all benefit when we do 🙂
Thank you all for all you do, and thank you Eric Siebert and all of the folks who support the Top vBlog (http://vsphere-land.com/news/how-you-can-help-support-vsphere-land-and-top-blog-voting.html)
Cheers to a big 2014 ahead!
